Exit Realty Central unveils a new website: Can it help you find a Dayton house?

August 30th, 2008

9/30/09 Note: I did try another style of real estate website, and because I feel so strongly about this, I’ve chosen to stop using it because it was a forced registration method. If you want to work with me, please do feel free to contact me. I help clients in ways that no other Realtor in Dayton helps clients, but if you are looking for business as usual, there are plenty of those real estate sites around as well.

Poor neglected blog.

I’ve been busy with family, busy finding homes in Dayton for some transplants. Stop the presses! People are moving to Dayton, and they are happy about it! I’ve also been busy with some major home remodeling. Something had to give, and so the blog was chosen. An obvious choice.

What’s new? A new school year, my bathroom. But that’s personal stuff. What I’ve been spending my online work related time with, is a new website.

I’ve toyed with multiple sites and blogs, but I’m not a website designer or a code monkey, and it’s not something I really care to spend time on, so I’m more than thrilled that my brokerage has taken the time to put together a fairly comprehensive site for real estate in Dayton. The bad news about the site, and there’s always bad news, is that you have to offer up a name to get to a lot of the best information. If you read my blog at all, you know I’m all about sharing information with my clients, so the sign up would not be my choice. On the other hand, the good news, and there’s always good news to grab hold of, is that if you sign up on my link, it’s me! And I’ll leave you to your research in some peace if that’s what you want, however, if you prefer to contact me, the traditional email and cell numbers still work, but I’ve also installed an shiny new IM chat widget there. That’s cool because if you are signed in and you see from the widget that I’m online and you have a question- just ask!

This summer I pared down the categories for this site- you can find them on the sidebar- in anticipation of some upcoming changes here. What I’d like to do is to take the best of that site, and expand on it here, and continue to learn how both sites can become more useful for clients. To that end, it’s important to hear from you, because while I like to blog, this site is created for the benefit of the Dayton house hunters. So please tell me: What is missing when you go online to look for information? What do you wish you could find more easily? What drives you nuts about real estate sites? Let me know: Teri(at)TheBrickRanch.com.

looks like they bought the same site as partners did and combined their offices to one site. Boring! Your blog is much more interesting. Keep your mls link for searches here and forget driving traffic there. Don’t have to be a codemonkey to figure that one out. Your blog Rocks!

    Hi David-
I understand, and appreciate what you’re saying, but if a client is telling me that they appreciate the information on that site, then I need to pay attention to that.

But thanks for the kind words! :-)
