Handymen of Dayton, unite! Deconstruction Depot is now open.

November 16th, 2009

I’ve covered the absolute affordability of Dayton Ohio homes. I’ve discussed some of the places you can go to get building materials on the cheap. The generous federal government- you and me, baby- are giving you a tax credit for buying property (certain restrictions apply, read the fine print, get expert advice). Sounds like a good time for budget minded buyers to take the plunge.

We know that Dayton is demolishing hundreds of homes and if you are thinking that maybe you’d like to get your hands on some of that deconstructed material, you are in luck. Thanks to Dayton Works Plus, and The St. Vincent de Paul Deconstruction Depot. What can you rummage for? How about doors, window frames, oak lumber, fireplace mantels, fixtures, who-knows-what?

The Deconstruction Depot is over 5,000 sq ft of handyman specials and is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, and on Saturdays from 9am to 5pm. It’s located at the St. Vincent de Paul Community Store at 945 S. Edwin C. Moses Boulevard in Dayton, next to The Job Center.

You can find out more about this awesome program at DaytonMostMetro, here.
