South Park Rehab-a-rama

October 11th, 2007

Long before Huber Heights was a gleam in Pa Huber’s eye, this was farmland. If you wanted to live a gentrified life, you had to live where the rivers meet.

Now, me, I’m not the type of brave soul who would personally take on a historic home. I do think they are lovely, and I do oooo and ahhh over historic homes. I can appreciate them, I just don’t want to live in one. Well, okay, maybe a little shotgun bungalow, but that’s just me. However, as a Realtor, I do say live in whatever rocks yer socks and we don’t all have to like the same thing. So count me in for Rehab-A-Rama. I love Rehab-A-Ramas! If you have never been to one, get thee to South Park.

If you haven’t been to South Park in Dayton lately, you probably haven’t seen the changes going on there: A lot of renovation, and a lot of community building. It is a neighborhood with proximity to all the downtown life and culture, and there are lovely older homes, with a neighborhood feel. A quick check with the Dayton MLS shows about 30 homes for sale in the Historic South Park area. The price range is from $10,000 for a 1 bedroom bungalow in need of some work, to a $259,900 for a 5 bedroom/ 3 bath renovated home on a picturesque street- something for everyone.

Oct. 12-21 is the Historic South Park’s Rehab-a-rama.

Eight to ten homes will be open for you to tour. Here’s some information from the HistoricSouthPark.org website:

The 2007 Rehab-a-rama will feature eight to ten beautifully restored homes from quaint cottages to grand Victorians. The Dayton Society of Interior Designers will furnish and decorate the homes. The tour will also showcase three market-ready homes prepared for final finishes. The show homes are a small example of the over 30 homes that will be renovated and for sale at an affordable price point.
