Ohio Film Music Video Challenge

March 14th, 2009

Film! Music! Ohio! Three of my favorite things all rolled into one great contest! So, from the Contest.DiscoverOhioFilm site, the details are these:

The contest is designed to support filmmakers throughout the state while partnering with educational institutions and musical acts. The production team has a 3 week period to partner with a musical act, create a concept, shoot the video, edit the video, and post it to be judged on YouTube.

The public will vote on the videos and narrow them down to the top ten! The finalists will be judged by professionals in the music and film industries. All team leader finalists must be present on Tuesday, March 31st at the House of Blues between 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm for the announcement of the winner in order to be eligible to win.

The Ohio Film Music Video Challenge will occur throughout the State of Ohio. The criteria for the Ohio Film Music Video Challenge will be announced on Wednesday, February 18, 2009. This will be posted on Contest.DiscoverOhioFilm.com and partner organization sites throughout the State.

Now, the voting is open to the public, so get over there and support your fave! Here’s mine: Birthplace of aviation, Schuster Center, cornfields? Three of my favorites things all rolled into one great love song/video! Go Happy Chichester!

Now I’ve showed you my favorite, take a look at the videos and tell me about your favorite.

There are also videos on YouTube about what went into making this video too… the gorgeous old RED plane is a 1930 Waco CRG.N600 (or something like that, sorry I don’t know planes.) The one of a kind plane was built in Troy Ohio for the “1930 Ford air tour.” The shots from above? There’s a Dayton Company that does the filming from above with an instrument that is a cross between remote control helicopter, virtual reality and a video camera. They donated their expertise to this video.

As much as I would love one of the Columbus music videos to win… because I am THAT way. This music video is beyond great.

I have been away from Dayton too long, the birthplace of aviation. This one flew right over my head. I loved it. I just really did not make the connection until you refreshed my memory Teri.

    Thanks for the mention.

    Hi Maureen-

I’m going to edit the post to add the YouTube site- might make more sense that way.

I thought that might have been the WACO airport, or air strip that contributed the plane. Thanks for the details about that. I also love the girl in the coffee shop wearing the Wright State t-shirt! Represent!

I think, of all the songs I’ve seen, and I didn’t watch all of them, but this one captured Ohio visually as well as taking the Birthplace of Aviation and giving it a new meaning- really very cool how it all blends together. I didn’t see so much of that in other videos.

I am an outsider… WACO airport must be in Troy. I will have to go back to see the girl in the coffee shop. I started watching the videos without looking at the criteria. I would notice things like an Ohio license plate or an OSU jersey, or an Ohio Bicentennial Barn sometimes but not always. I have been back to this video a bunch of times, but have to go back to see it again.

Another video I love is set in Columbus, band is The Receiver, the song is Visitor….

[...] Teri Lussier picked it out right away, but is that because she is in Dayton? Teri writes TheBrickRanch.com [...]
